MMC Engineering, a structural and civil engineering design firm since 1981, specializes in residential, commercial and light industrial building design. The president, owner, and chief structural engineer, Michael P. McCann, is a lifelong resident of the state of Washington and a 1970 graduate of the University of Washington.

Office Capabilities: We utilize Auto Lite, and Risa 2D and 3D, and for more sophisticated structural problems. All our calculations are performed on 8.5 X 11 or 11X17 sheets, and, in many instances, this calculation package, coupled with the standard detail sheets, has been accepted by local jurisdictions without additional plan markups or detailing.

Michael McCann: A licensed Civil engineer since 1979, and a licensed Structural engineer since 1981, Mr. McCann has worked on a large variety of structural engineering projects from simple residential additions to large high-rise structures. Typical structural projects are tilt-up office warehouses, industrial buildings, multi-family structures, metal building foundations for Varco Pruden, Garco, Butler, HCI, Star, Soule, American, Miracle Steel, & General Steel, pile foundations, residential and commercial structure vertical and lateral analyses to include log and timber frame structures, retaining wall and storm water detention tank design. Typical materials are wood, concrete, steel, concrete masonry units (CMU), and aluminum. Typical civil projects include storm drainage calculations and design for King and Snohomish counties to current EPA regulations. Mr. McCann has also performed earthquake and fire damage inspections, written Probable Maximum Loss (PML) reports for Insurance providers, and performed structural condition investigations for existing commercial and residential structures. A sample of typical projects by name can be provided upon request with references. Mr. McCann has been a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Washington (SEAW), the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the International Log Builders’ Association (ILBA), and an ATC-20 trained engineer (Post-earthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings).
Contracts: All professional services are supported by proposals/contracts signed by the financially responsible party. Typically, these contracts can be on a strictly hourly basis (i.e., time and materials), on a not-to-exceed basis, or on a set contract amount. The project will commence after the signed contract and retainer fee (if required) are received.
Project Completion Date: When the proposal is presented to the prospective client, either an estimated time of completion or a firm due date will be stated, depending on the specific needs of the client. Every effort within our control will be undertaken to see that the completion dates agreed to are met.
Customer Service: It is the intent of MMC Engineering, Inc., to provide timely, affordable and professional civil and structural engineering to the client. Every attempt will be made to satisfy the needs of the client within the constraints of applicable regulations, guidelines, codes and governing jurisdictions.
